Rice fails to impress media

Arab-Israeli press

As US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice comes to the end of her Middle East tour, the region’s media remain sceptical about the reasons for her visit. Two Israeli newspapers agree with the pan-Arab television station Al-Jazeera that she has brought no new proposals for peace between Israel and the Palestinians. And some Arab papers are convinced that the aim of the tour is to divide the Arab countries.

QATAR’SAL-JAZEERA TV

The road to Iraq’s stability passes through a resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict… This visit comes at a time when Washington’s eyes have completely turned towards Iraq. Based on this, it seems natural that Rice announced that she has brought nothing new.

ISRAEL’SYEDIOT AHARONOT

What can “Condi” propose to her Israeli friends? Talk to Hamas? Out of the question. Talk to the Syrians? Are you mad? Perhaps with Lebanon? Forget it. Therefore, what is left?

HAGAY HUBERMAN in ISRAEL’S HATZOFE

Israelis who met Condoleezza Rice in recent days identified a desperate US secretary of state… Not a single new original idea came up in the talks… The despair of Condoleezza, regrettably, endangers Israel’s citizens.

GHAZI AL-DADA in SYRIA’S TISHRIN

Perhaps the only aim, or at least, the most prominent, of Rice’s visit is to try to mobilize support and backup for Bush’s new strategy in Iraq… the US administration does only what serves its and Israel’s interests and their joint schemes in the region.

MUHAMMAD NAJI UMAYRAH in JORDAN’S AL-RA’Y

Rice’s tour is aimed at increasing the disruption of Arab ranks, covering the US failure in Iraq, reassuring the Israeli government and supporting its practices and defending its interests.

SALAMA AHMAD SALAM in EGYPT’S AL-AHRAM

The first and main aim of Rice is to persuade the group of moderates – Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the Gulf States – to work closely with the US plan to get out of the Iraqi dilemma, and to warn them that America’s defeat in Iraq would lead to instability in these countries and create new spots for terrorism and religious extremism.

PALESTINIAN AL-QUDS

We hope that the Arabs will have a real and united position in facing the USA with a call to connect the Iraqi problem to the Palestinian cause… There has been an absence of any Arab, regional or international intervention and the best proof of this is what is happening in Somalia right now.

HANI AL-MASRI in PALESTINIAN AL-AYYAM

If the moderate Arab states succumb to US threats that not helping the Bush administration implement its strategy will lead to their collapse, this will only contribute to their weakening. It will also ignite more chaos, division, and sectarian and religious wars.

ALI QASIM in SYRIA’S AL-THAWRAH

The US secretary of state, whose visits have increased to the region recently, has changed her priorities. Her presence has become a cause of real concern as she has devoted her efforts to moving the flashpoint in the region instead of helping the peace process.

I just don’t know how much longer Candy can keep winning Friends and Influencing people, can you!  : )

The Bush Administration has many, many flaws; but perhaps the most egregious resides in the area of Foreign Policy. That’s why for the Media to harp on Senator Barack Obama’s ‘lack’ (?) of EXPERIENCE is laughable: considering what we’ve had to endure from Bush & Company since 2001.

Take the Selection of ‘Condi Rice’ as Secretary of State to Lead Foreign Policy. Oh, she came from humble Beginnings; she is ‘bright’, wears stylish outfits, and is the darling to those that reside at Stanford’s “Hoover Institute: but Rice is ~ and always has been ~ a “Cold War Warrior”!

Rice views the World through the prism of Communism v. the West. To Candy, the so-called ‘War Against Terror’ is in fact the war against Communist Russia and a “Red Tide”. That’s why those in the Middle East were so perplexed about Rice’s recent visit. Why: because she would had preferred meeting with NATO on how best to stop Russian tanks from storming acoss the mountains!!

Condoleezza Rice is nothin’ but a “Cold War Warrior” LOST in the Twenty-first Century!!
